Went to see the Elisabeth Drink exhibition - really wonderfully curated show. A lovely visit only marred by the tactics of an overzealous 'guard' who aggressively told a fellow visitor not to sit on what looked like a perfectly innocuous seat. Training in customer services required!
I am a frequent visitor. I love the architecture of the building. The cafe is very good, but expensive. The gallery's permanent collection is excellent. There are also some very interesting temporary exhibitions, then again some are not to my taste, be selective.
Absolutely amazing building, very cool party venue. We had a brilliant time - I gather that the host brought in the decor and entertainment, which fit the venue perfectly. It's a fairly plain space that seems really flexible. We didn't go into the gallery, as it was closed by the time we got there. One thing about the Sainsbury Centre vegetarian food - they had masses of margarita pizza. The meat pizzas had more veggies on them than the vegetarian ones! Vegetarians like vegetables on our pizzas too! Also the drinks were Very expensive, and not much selection.
Fabulous space, beautifully laid out. The staff are helpful and genuine.We visited for the Frink exhibition and were treated to a charming guided tour of some remarkable artwork.We will return to see the rest and the sculpture park on another day.
If you are interested in art it is well worth visiting. Free to enter, except for exhibitions. Cafe reasonably priced and good food and coffee. The range of art covers a huge range in both time and style with some very significant pieces, all well displayed in an architecturally interesting building . If you want to see specific pieces, check that they are on display. Parking is limited.
